1. Thermal Insulation and Thermal Management (Core Function)
• Physical Structure: Hollow spheres are tiny spherical particles with a vacuum or gas interior, and an outer shell typically made of polymers (such as polystyrene or acrylic resin).
• Working Principle: When the heating point (resistance) of the thermal printhead comes into contact with the paper surface, it generates instantaneous high temperatures. The hollow structure of the hollow spheres makes them excellent insulators.
• Preventing Heat Loss: They block heat from diffusing into the deeper layers and laterally within the paper, effectively "locking" heat in the surface layer where chemical reactions need to occur.
• **Focused Heat:** This allows heat to be concentrated and act more efficiently on the developers and colorants in the thermal coating, causing them to melt and react chemically instantly to produce color.
2. **Improved Print Sensitivity and Resolution:**
• Because the heat is effectively concentrated, the color development reaction becomes more sensitive. This means the printer can achieve the same sharp print results with lower energy (shorter pulse times or lower voltage), helping to extend printhead life and save energy.
• **Increased Print Speed:** Faster color development allows for higher print speeds.
• **Improved Resolution:** Heat is confined to a small area, preventing thermal interference between adjacent pixels, resulting in sharper dots, sharper edges, and better detail in text and lines. It avoids blurry text and trailing.
3. **Improved Paper Opacity and Whiteness:**
Hollow spheres are white, and their spherical structure effectively scatters light. Added to the thermal coating, they significantly improve paper opacity, preventing content on the reverse side from showing through. Simultaneously, it enhances the visual whiteness of the paper, making the paper appear whiter and more aesthetically pleasing before printing, and resulting in more vivid contrast after printing.
4. Protects the Printhead
